This afternoon, around 4:00, we and about 25 other families from the U.S. who have now completed the adoption of their children born in China, went to the U.S. Consulate and filled out one final paper and took the oath. Aaron had a really hard time in the waiting room with so many other people. He cried, and later told us he had been scared when he saw so many people and children. In his own mind, I bet he wondered if we were taking him back/giving him back... Luckily, he was able to be distracted by a spring water machine, and proceeded to pour (and then drink) four cups of water for himself. When we stood for the oath, with the other families, and raised our right hands to swear the oath, Aaron also raised his hand. As we began to repeat the words of the oath, Aaron began to say some of his own words right along with us. It was VERY SWEET! We just enjoyed a wonderful thai meal at the Cow and Bridge Restaurant on Shamian (our THIRD dinner there in a row). Almost time for bath and bed. Tomorrow is our final day here. We need to finish packing, and plan to go to the Hot Pot restaurant for dinner. Love, Nicole |

I'm a fellow RQ mom! So happy things are going well for you and Aaron.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels HOME! It was bittersweet for me to leave China with my daughter. She is such a blessing to our family, but the time in China was priceless and wonderful and exhausting and thrilling, and scary, and all those emotions wrapped up in one.
Safe travels,

I have enjoyed following your journey to your precious new little one.
ReplyDeleteWe should be traveling some time in July and hope to also stay at the Holiday Inn Shifu. I was wanting to know more about the Hot Pot restaurant that you mentioned. WHere is it located in regards to the HI Shifu? Is it easy for Westerners to order or is a guide needed?
Enjoy your last day! I walked by your house tonight and wondered if Donovan had taken his link off his chain yet for today...Looking forward to hearing about your trip back to the US and seeing pictures of Aaron and Donovan together!
