  2. I just brought my daughter home last Oct 1. My daughter, Bao Xin Lei (now Caroline Anne Xin Lei) comes from the Bao'an SWI. Her birthdate is 12/31/07. Your son is absolutely beautiful. I have heard the saying of "Bao'an Beauties"...I think it's true. I guess that can apply to a little boy, right? Prayers are with you as you continue this journey. My blog is adoptingcaroline.blogspot.com

  3. Chris,
Your daughter, Caroline, is so beautiful. When you were in Guangzhou, were you able to travel to the Bao'an SWI to meet the staff there? I did visit your blog and didn't see anything about a visit to the SWI. Wondering if that was because your daughter was in foster care, or perhaps due to H1N1 at that time you were not permitted to visit. Just curious. Do all children at Bao'an born in 2007 have the name of Xin?

  4. Congratulations! It won't be long now. I have been following along via your blog and the Shenzhen Yahoo group. I don't post often but read just about everything. We brought our DD home in May of 09. Bao, Guan Xin. We did not visit the orphanage because of the H1N1 just breaking out, though I would have loved too. Your little boy is just precious.

  5. Nicole, I had no idea that there was even a possibility of visiting Bao'an SWI. My adoption agency basically told us that we were not allowed to go there and also told us not to send a care package to our child if they were under 2-years of age. I just thought it was 'against the rules.' Now, I'm reading about adoptive parents that are visiting Bao'an. My gotcha day was 9/21/09 and I'm not sure that I would have made a visit to Bao'an during this time. Caroline was really shut down...wouldn't walk, was nonverbal except to cry...wouldn't play with toys...she just wanted to be held. Finally, three days before we returned home, she turned into a happy little girl who walked, played and smiled. I think that a trip to Bao'an SWI would have been a setback for Caroline at that time. I want to make a visit there in three years or so....it seems like a very good orphanage. I have received two cards from them and after emailing pictures of Caroline and asking them some questions, they returned my email and answered the questions and sent a picture of Caroline's foster parents. They even ended the email communication with 'God Bless you and God bless our little Xin Lei.' Amazing. Take care...so excited for you.

  6. Chris,
It sounds like the timing of your trip to China was during the height of H1N1. I bet that had to do with a trip to the SWI not even being mentioned as an option.
